I feel like I’m a magnet for Red-tailed Hawks because wherever I go, I look up and see one.
They’re soaring high above me, perched on telephone poles, light posts, and in trees.
I’m not sure if I’m following them, or they’re following me, but our paths always seem to cross.
In Tune with Nature
When I mentioned to my friend that I always seem to find feathers when I’m walking, she says, “That’s because you’re looking for them.”
She means when I’m outside, I’m in tune with nature and what’s going on around me.
And when you “tune” in, you see and hear a lot that often passes others by without a thought.
So I decided to research how seeing hawks give insight into life.
Connection to Red-tailed Hawks
People often talk about spirit animals and their meaning, so I was excited to learn more about my connection to Red-tailed Hawks.
The hawk symbolizes the ability to use intuition and higher vision to complete tasks or make crucial decisions.
Some believe animal guides deliver important messages to us from beyond, and hawks serve as animals that heighten our spiritual awareness and help us along our path.

Seeing the Bigger Picture
I prefer to take a scientific approach to things.
And if you’re into birds, especially birds of prey, then you know hawks scan their surroundings from high above the ground looking for potential threats and sources of food.
As I continue my research, the symbolism of seeing Red-tailed Hawks is becoming more apparent.
Hawks are regarded as messengers of the animal spirit world.
So applying spirit animal logic, then seeing them means the universe wants me to use the same laser focus, and precision hawks use to survive every day to get things done.
And for me to take the reins in life and truly shine.

Hawks Reach Incredible Heights
If you study Red-tailed hawks, or observe them as a birdwatcher, much of their behavior can be inspirational.
Hawks reach incredible heights when flying, and to some, it’s as if they touch a magical realm in the sky that’s strictly their own.
Red-tailed Hawks effortlessly soar high above in the sky.
Just buzzards, condors, eagles, falcons, harriers, kites, osprey, vultures, herons, cranes, storks, a few passerine birds, and sea birds.
Soaring birds view all of life from this perspective.
Some think if you see hawks showing up in your life frequently, it’s a signal to see the bigger picture.
And focusing on tasks at hand and avoid getting distracted by the smaller details of life.
Red-tailed Hawks Observe Before Acting
If you watch hawks long enough, then you’ll notice these birds always observe their area before acting.
Hawks approach life with skilled precision.
If I want to be like a hawk, then I should study my choices before acting on them.
Hawks have keen eyesight and can see eight times better than humans, and can locate prey from a distance of 100 feet.
A hawk’s sharp vision symbolizes having a clear sense of knowing about the direction I want my life to go in, and that I’m on the right path.

Whatever my connection to Red-tailed hawks, even if just sheer happenstance, I enjoy seeing these beautiful birds on an almost daily basis.
Red-tailed Hawks are stunning birds and are North America’s most common hawks.
We’re fortunate to have them all year long throughout the U.S.
